Powder Alloy cores are manufactured from a highly compressed powdered ferrous alloy. Small air gaps are distributed evenly throughout the core material and this acts in a similar way to gapping a ferrite core, by reducing core saturation at higher levels of current.
Iron Powder cores are manufactured from Iron Powder and a small quantity of binder. They also have the advantage of a distributed air gap and are typically the cheapest of all the powder materials.
We are always willing to work with customers to help in core selection and product development for any given application.
